The failure of the story elements aside, the technical attributes were so poorly handled that I wonder how many people will feel ripped off when they watch the fourth scene or buy into the hype surrounding this one, even the solid cast unable to keep this one from earning a rating of Skip It. Avatar charts the adventures of Jake Sully, a US marine who finds himself conjured into a human-alien hybrid dispatched to the planet of Pandora. However, the most difficult innovation that Indiewire says James Cameron is looking toward is the idea of doing a 3D movie without the need for glasses. Misty Stone, the lead hotty shown on the front cover in her full makeup, was up next as she took on Chris Johnson, his avatar persona also looking weird in the dark night jungle. The primary issue is that in order for a 3D image to be presented to your eyes without glasses, the image has to be focused to a specific location. However the Blu-ray version of the movie should be in a Side by Side format, with both the DVD and the Blu-ray release of the movie also containing a second media with a normal 2D version.

The audience chuckles and coos and applauds at the end. Avatar became the highest grossing movie ever made in large part because it wowed audiences by doing things with technology that had never been done before. How about chasing nVidia or some games developers for answers on why they lock convergence settings instead of posting this crap? While scaling up to a movie theater sized screen should be technically possible, it hasn't been done, and even if success is had, the cost of the technology isn't commercially viable at this point. If and when Avatar 2 ever happens, James Cameron promises he will continue to push the limits, including potentially making 3D easier to view.
